Dance Lessons for Beginners
When you enroll in the Basic Introductory Program, you’ll take part in our engaging group dance lessons. Students start learning steps and practicing the fundamentals from their very first lesson, so you’ll be immersed in the dances you’re most eager to learn right away. Your instructor will work with you and your classmates on the key elements of social dancing, including:
- Rhythm and timing: The pattern of beats in a song determines its rhythm. Your classes will help you get a feel for rhythm, allowing you to learn a dance’s timing and move to the beat.
- Foot position: By learning proper foot positioning, you’ll be able to work smoothly with a partner, keep your balance and gracefully transition between steps.
- Leading and following: It’s important that you learn to both lead and follow. When leading, you’ll serve as a guide and initiate transitions through physical communication. When following, you’ll need to read these signals and act accordingly.
As you progress, your dance program will give you the consistency needed to develop your skills, as well as plenty of variety to keep things interesting. Over time, you’ll become more confident in your dancing and enjoy all the benefits that this confidence brings, from the attention you’ll draw on the dance floor to never saying no to another invitation to dance.
